Amy was identified by law enforcement as a teen victim of child sexual abuse and, upon further investigation, being trafficked. At the police department, she was nervous, scared and felt completely alone.
Since 2006, our Safe Initiative is a global response to child sexual exploitation and trafficking.
We are committed to offering a sanctuary of safety, a journey of restoration, and an empowering toward a new beginning for survivors of sex trafficking and vulnerable youth, both here in the United States and abroad.

Jasmine
Jasmine was a 13-year-old girl when she joined our CAP program. She was severely neglected, and child sexual abuse of other family members was already happening in her home, putting her at risk of abuse and being trafficked.

Alaina
Alaina was 13 when she came into the St. Louis Refuge Home. Our local law enforcement partners had responded to a tip that a young girl was being trafficked. Later that night, Alaina was rescued from a hotel.

Our Work Internationally
Our international Safe Initiatives operate in East Africa.
We operate two village complexes in East Africa that safely house girls who have been rescued from sex trafficking. While in our care, we help restore these young women and give them the space, love and compassion they need to heal, restore and restart.

SewingIn this sewing room, young women are mastering the craft of making clothing. These girls are preparing to create clothing to sell in local markets, gaining independence and sustainable livelihoods.

PotteryAnother life-changing initiative at the Girls Village — a pottery program designed to provide both therapy and income opportunities for young women rescued from trafficking. Pottery not only helps the girls heal emotionally but also equip them with skills to support themselves and their children, breaking the cycle of exploitation.

HairdressingIn the Girls Village Hairdressing Vocational School, young women, like this student learning to braid hair, are transforming their futures.
