Meseret's Story
Meseret* was carrying unimaginable trauma. Orphaned as a child. Married while she was still a girl. Abandoned by her husband.
Desperate to provide for her young daughter, she made the heartbreaking decision to leave her with relatives while she traveled alone to Addis Ababa in search of work.
Instead, she was trafficked.
Night after night, she stood on the freezing streets, feeling like the living dead.
Then our Mercy Chapel found her … because someone like you believed her life was worth saving.
Thanks to loyal partners like you, we were able to offer her counseling, vocational training, practical life skills and, most importantly, she discovered the love of Jesus Christ.
"The safe home didn't just give me a place to sleep; it gave me a foundation for my entire life," Meseret said.
Because of your friendship, her story didn’t end in simply survival. In fact, it was just beginning…
After graduating, she began working at Crisis Aid’s Dairy Store, where fresh milk from our Aleta Dairy Farm helps support exploitation survivors rebuilding their lives. As she gained confidence and experience, she began dreaming about serving even more people in her community.
That dream became reality. Today, the Dairy Store has grown into The Grill House restaurant, creating additional jobs, serving the local community and opening new opportunities for other Mercy Chapel graduates.
And the impact of your support only continued to multiply…
A neighboring business owner saw the transformation taking place and was inspired to invest in improving his own business.
