Amy was identified by law enforcement as a teen victim of child sexual abuse and, upon further investigation, being trafficked. At the police department, she was nervous, scared and felt completely alone.
Since 2006, our Safe Initiative is a global response to child sexual exploitation and trafficking.
We are committed to offering a sanctuary of safety, a journey of restoration, and an empowering toward a new beginning for survivors of sex trafficking and vulnerable youth, both here in the United States and abroad.

Jasmine
Jasmine was a 13-year-old girl when she joined our CAP program. She was severely neglected, and child sexual abuse of other family members was already happening in her home, putting her at risk of abuse and being trafficked.

Alaina
Alaina was 13 when she came into the St. Louis Refuge Home. Our local law enforcement partners had responded to a tip that a young girl was being trafficked. Later that night, Alaina was rescued from a hotel.

Our Work In the U.S.
Our Child Anti-Exploitation Partnership (CAP) Program Began in 2019.
In 2019, Crisis Aid, the St. Louis County Police Department, and the Missouri ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) Division embarked on a revolutionary new collaborative initiative to reach sexually exploited children BEFORE trafficking begins. These Crisis Aid offices, housed in the heart of the police stations, are a warm and inviting oasis for the children.
House of Hope Refuge Home
House of Hope is an emergency through transitional living program for female victims of human trafficking. Designed with a focus on mental health support options and practical assistance, including case management, advocacy, life skills, job training, and education, our goal is to empower survivors towards holistic recovery.
Nestled in a fully accessible, state-of-theart residential location, survivors receive extensive support for their transition to independent living, prioritizing traumainformed and holistic care. Tangible tools and resources foster healing and self-sufficiency, supporting trafficking victims in their journeys to healing and independence.
Human Trafficking Survivor Support
Survivor Support is one of our largest and most active program areas. Our team is embedded directly with specialized law enforcement units investigating human trafficking, working alongside investigators to ensure victims are identified, recovered, and connected to care from the very first moment of intervention.
Once a survivor is safe, our work continues. We provide:
- Emergency crisis intervention and safety planning
- Group and individual non-therapeutic counseling
- Life skills training and transitional housing
- Criminal justice advocacy
- Direct connection to long-term resources
We also train law enforcement, medical professionals, and social service providers, and bring human trafficking and child sexual exploitation education into schools and communities, because rescue and recovery take an informed network.
